S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the return of the series after over a decade, and while the original release of the game was impeded by the ongoing situation between Russia and Ukraine, the developers are still hopeful of a 2023 release date. Despite rumors earlier today pointing at a 2024-2025 release date.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Still Set for 2023
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is going to be a return to form for many gamers who enjoy one of the most memorable post-apocalypse FPS titles that isn’t a Fallout game. The original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games were released in the late 2000’s, with the last entry, Call of Pripyat, releasing in 2009.
With the announcement of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in June 2021, fans got a look at the return of the series, and is currently slated for the PC and Xbox Series consoles.
Earlier today, a rumor was circulated that stated the game would be delayed to 2024 or 2025 due to many of the staff leaving, but this was quickly debunked by an employee of GSCWorld on the game’s official Discord channel, who states that the game is still on track for an unannounced 2023 release date.
A Tweet aptly summed up the situation:
WHile the studio has had difficulties due to the ongoing conflict, gamers are still hopeful of seeing the game in 2023. With an original release date of 2022 moved due to the ongoing situation in the region.
With over a decade of waiting, fans are okay with waiting just a little longer for the return of an iconic series once more, and to a bigger platform than ever before.
Earlier this month, pre-orders were canceled, and while disappointing, we are sure that the opportunity to pre-order the game and support the studio will open up again in the future.
