It’s been years since Skull and Bones was officially announced, and it seems that we’re finally getting closer to some updates. Ubisoft has been releasing tons of multiplayer titles over the years, and they have plenty planned for the upcoming years. This year, Ubisoft confirmed that players could sign up for a closed beta, check the game out, and provide some feedback. Now, over 4 minutes of Skull and Bones Gameplay has leaked, giving us an in-depth look at the upcoming title.

Based on the footage here, it seems like the title is going for something similar to Sea of Thieves rather than 2013’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. The world takes inspiration from the Indian Ocean, and your main goal is to become a legendary pirate.

Players will be able to interact in a hub world, where they can take on different contracts, customize their ship, and get new equipment. Completing contracts will net you different rewards, and failing those will have negative effects. Some contracts need to be completed solo, while others can be done with the help of other players.

There is a lot more depth in this when it comes to how you approach contracts. You’ll need to ensure you bring enough equipment to repair your ship etc. There are other parameters to keep in mind, like your ship’s health, and even your crew’s morale.

The video goes over a lot of that, and it’s shaping up to be an interesting experience.

We hope that the title comes out this year, and there’s enough to keep players engaged. Black Flag is one of the best titles in the series, and really paved the way for naval combat.
