Solar Ash

Solar Ash is an upcoming action platformer from Annapurna Interactive and Heart Machine. The title was originally announced at a Sony event, where they unveiled the PlayStation 5 as well. Heart Machine’s breakout title, Hyper Light Drifter was an award-winning game, that earned critical acclaim across all platforms. Now, Annapurna Interactive has announced that Solar Ash has been delayed a few weeks ahead of its original release date.

Similar to many other games planned for 2021, a delay shouldn’t be something surprising at this point. The pandemic has hit the gaming industry hard, and the release schedules have been disrupted quite a bit. Many games originally coming out in 2021 have been pushed to early 2022, which makes a lot of sense.

In the case of Solar Ash, the reasoning is the same, paired with the extra time needed for polish, and bug fixing. This extra time will ensure that the game will launch in the best state possible.

The new release date is December 2nd, 2021, which isn’t that far away anyway. The game features a Voidrunner named Rei who will be traversing the Ultravoid, meeting various characters, face different enemies, and engage in high-speed traversal.

The game is highly stylized and features a very unique art style. The developers have shared some gameplay footage in recent events, and you can check that out below.

Given the state of gaming the past few years, we won’t be surprised if even more delays are announced soon. Adjusting to remote development will take time, and it will be a while before we see games come out at the normal pace.

Despite it all, Annapurna Interactive has put out multiple titles this year including The Last Stop, Twelve Minutes, The Artful Escape, and various re-releases on different platforms. Their lineup for next year looks incredible as well, and we’re very excited for whatever they have planned next.
