It seems that some fans have spotted the Super Mario 35th Anniversary twitter account. 2020 was supposed to celebrate 35 years of gaming’s favorite plumber but the events of COVID-19 had to rain on the parade. However, a Twitter account that has proven to be legitimate has been spotted.
Super Mario 35th Anniversary – Can we get an M in the chat?
With 2020 being the 35th anniversary of gaming’s oldest plumber, Nintendo definitely had more planned for the red plumber. There were even strong rumors of several Mario games making their way to the Nintendo Switch.
The Twitter account was first spotted by VideoGameChronicles, and does use the password reset method that the domain is attached nintendo.co.jp.
For the sake of authenticity, we also decided to replicate the method ourselves.
Here is the password reset request for the 35th anniversary account.
and here are the same screens, but replicated with the Smash Bros Japan and Splatoon Japan twitter accounts.
In the highly unlikely scenario that someone went out of their way to try and replicate the character length and domain length to dupe fans, would be very unlikely. However, if that were the case, this is either the most elaborate troll one has ever witnessed, or perhaps the Mario account is indeed the genuine article.
Plan or No Plan? Waiting on Nintendo.
Whether or not Nintendo still has plans with the Mario 35th Anniversary accounts is not yet known. We are a little over half way into 2020 with no new content for Mario outside of Paper Mario: The Origami King on July 17th.
While Nintendo could have plans for us later this year, we hope Nintendo does share their plans of what they have in store for the plumber before the year ends.
While some remastered or new Mario games would definitely be welcomed, we can just hope that any form of celebration would go noticed.
For now, Nintendo fans have set their sights on Nintendo to deliver. With Paper Mario the latest major exclusive to launch on the Nintendo Switch, perhaps Nintendo has some more aces up their sleeves. ‘
