Ubisoft’s Hyper Scape – A new Battle Royale on the horizon?
Ubisoft is rumored to be entering the Battle Royle space with a new title in their lineup. Currently known as Hyper Scape. The game is a futuristic fast-paced FPS that is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the team behind Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
The rumor comes from known industry leaker, Slasher.
According to Slasher, the game is set to go into closed beta next week with a full launch and open beta being carried out on July 12th, the date for Ubisoft’s digital event, Ubisoft forward. The event will see the company announce their games for the current generation and next generation consoles, along with updates to already announced games like Assassins Creed Valhalla.
In addition, the game will primarily launch on PC with console versions planned for release later this year. Whether or not we will see the game reach the PS4 and Xbox One and go straight to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
While the free to play FPS Battle Royale market is currently filled with games like Apex Legends and Call of Duty Warzone. These games also offer free to play and cross-play with other platforms. Apex Legends will add this feature in a future update, possibly alongside the release of the Nintendo Switch version.
Ubisoft has proven that they have a firm hand on making a good competitive FPS with how massive Rainbow Six Siege’s eSports presence is, but will the company be able to strike gold twice in a row? With the talent of Ubisoft Montreal leading the new game, we can hope that the project does get a running start.
