Elden Ring gives players the freedom to explore the entire map at their own pace. Due to that, almost every player has a different route since you can potentially fight some of the most difficult bosses early on. If you have just explored Liurnia of the Lakes, this guide will show you where to go after defeating Rennala in Elden Ring.

Ideally, you should head over to the Altus Plateau and Lyendell. However, you can go to Caelid, Weeping Peninsula, and explore some of the underground areas instead.

To know more about which location you should go to, continue reading to find out. With that said, let’s dive right in and get started.

Altus Plateau

This is the natural path of progression after defeating Rennala. After doing everything in Liurnia of the Lakes, you should make your way to the Ruin-Strewn Precipice. From here, you need to climb higher while defeating enemies to reach the Altus Plateau.

Once you enter this area, you will notice that it is a large open space with tons of things to do. While you’re here, you can complete side quests, meet new NPCs, or grind Runes to prepare for the Royal Capital. The enemies are tough but nothing that you can’t handle at this point.

Weeping Peninsula

While most players complete Weeping Peninsula after Limgrave, I have seen many players (including myself) that go straight to Liurnia of the Lakes. Since that seems like the natural progression order, you might have skipped the Weeping Peninsula area.

Here, you can find tons of content like a main boss, optional bosses, dungeons, and useful rewards. Plus, the game expects that you will explore this area after Limgrave so the enemies are slightly easier as well. This is especially true if you have already defeated Rennala.

Caelid

While I do not suggest going to Caelid after Rennala, you can explore this area if you are brave enough. Caelid has extremely powerful foes that not only deal a lot of damage but also have high HP as well. Despite being connected to Limgrave, this area is only for high leveled players.

If you really want to explore Caelid, go slowly and try not to fight too many enemies at once. Explore a few dungeons but if you are having difficulties, do not try to stay here for long. The good thing is that you will gain a lot of experience since the enemies are strong which can allow you to easily level up.

Ideally, you should complete Leyndell before coming here. If you are adamant enough, you will fight strong bosses like Radahn and Black Blade Kindred, and meet NPCs like Gurranq.

Siofra River

Entering the Siofra River.

Finally, you can explore various underground areas like the Siofra River. Even if you have already been to this location, you can always come back here since you will be stronger than before. Plus, if you haven’t fully explored this place, ensure you do everything you can before moving on.

This area will be a bit easier than before since you will have leveled up but it will still pose somewhat of a challenge.

Conclusion

And there you have it; that’s everything you need to know about where to go after defeating Rennala in Elden Ring. Since the game allows players to explore at their own pace, they can go to different areas without limitations.
