How to Dig Up Trees in Animal Crossing?
You can dig up trees in Animal Crossing by eating something and then using a shovel to pick up the tree. There are lots of types of food in the game, and you can eat anything from fruit to cooked recipes. All shovels in the game are able to pickup trees.
The easiest type of food that you will have access to straight away is your island’s native fruit. This can be obtained either by shaking the fruit trees that grow naturally on your island. Alternatively, Nook’s Cranny will sell your island’s native fruit, if you run out of fruit trees to shake.
When you eat a piece of food in Animal Crossing, you should notice a number pop up on the upper left-hand corner of your screen. This number indicates how many times you can perform an action that requires being well-fed. It caps out at 10, and normal pieces of fruit provide you with 1 action point. Cooked food recipes provide you with 10 action points.
Actions that require being well-fed include digging up trees and breaking rocks. To dig up a tree, you will require at least 1 action point. If you are not well-fed, then your player will hit the tree with the shovel when trying to pick it up, failing miserably.
Digging up a tree will pickup the entire tree and place it in your player’s inventory. You can hold more than one tree at a time, but they do not stack. This allows you to move trees wherever you want, and even bring trees back from other islands!
What if You Eat Too Much Food?
If you accidentally eat too much food, don’t worry because you can always use a toilet. This will reset your well-fed level, as will progressing forward a day. Yes, you can essentially poop in Animal Crossing… Gross.
What Trees Can You Dig Up in Animal Crossing?
You can dig up all trees in the game in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This includes fruit trees, regular trees, bamboo trees, palm trees, and pine trees. To replant a tree, you just need to dig a hole using a shovel, and then while holding the shovel approach the hole and click ‘plant’ on the tree that is in your inventory.
