The current head of the Kamisato Clan and much anticipated older brother of Kamisato Ayaka presents himself as Kamisato Ayato, a 5-star Hydro sword user. Despite being a well-respected politician surrounded by his attendants, Ayato doesn’t fall short of excellent swordsmanship to swiftly defeat enemies on his own. Using the Kamisato Art, Ayato proves to be a powerful and cunning figure beyond his civil duties and kind temperament.
With that, let’s dive into an in-depth discussion of Kamisato Ayato’s abilities as an adept swordsman! Here, you will learn how to build your Ayato with his talents, constellations, recommended artifacts, weapons, and team synergies.
An Overview
As a limited-time 5-star character, Ayato has his own set of advantages and disadvantages in terms of his abilities. From leaks, the official Character Demo, and the in-game trial, we’ve seen Ayato’s unique and interesting playstyle that may or may not work for Travelers depending on their combat preference and available characters.
Pros
- Suitable as a DPS and Sub-DPS
Ayato’s potential lies in his DPS and Sub-DPS capabilities through consistent elemental damage. As you will see from his playstyle, his talents directly deal huge damage against opponents.
- Ideal for Hydro-Related Elemental Reactions
Using the power of Hydro, Ayato is ideal for making elemental reactions such as Frozen, Electro-Charged, and Vaporize.
- His Damage Scales to Both ATK and HP
Ayato’s damage also scales primarily to his ATK and HP, which makes frequent HP artifact substats beneficial for both his output and durability.
- Highly Versatile
As a damage dealer suitable either on- or off-field, he makes a versatile character fitting for almost any team composition you have. He also doesn’t lag behind as a support character as one of his talents also buffs other party members’ damage.
Cons
- Not an Overpowered or ‘Broken’ DPS
While Ayato can deal immense damage against enemies, it’s important to note that he is not an OP or ‘broken’ DPS like Hu Tao or Ganyu who can destroy an opponent in a single hit. This means that Ayato will require a bigger investment as you would need a Sub-DPS for him to attack with.
- Available via Limited-Time Event Wishes Only
Being a limited-event 5-star character, Ayato is inherently difficult to get unless you are willing to pay for Intertwined Fates or extremely lucky in wishing.
Talents
Kamisato Ayato’s talents highlight his straightforward damage potential as a DPS or Sub-DPS. In some aspects, he also works as an excellent Support character by increasing all party members’ damage using his talent. He can also serve as the team’s damage-taker due to his HP mechanic if you don’t have a shielder or healer in your party. You can know more about his talents below.
Normal Attack
Kamisato Art: Marobashi
Ayato performs up to 5 rapid strikes for his normal attack, while consuming stamina to dash forward and perform an iai for his Charged Attack. His Plunging Attack deals AoE Physical DMG to nearby opponents upon impact.
Out of his three upgradable talents, this should be the last to be leveled up for a full-scale on-field DPS. However, for those who want to experiment with Ayato as a Physical DMG dealer, this can be prioritized.
Elemental Skill
Kamisato Art: Kyouka
Ayato dashes backward and leaves a water illusion at his original location, which will explode to deal AoE Hydro DMG if opponents are nearby or after its duration ends. Upon this dash, his Normal Attacks are also converted into AoE Hydro DMG, making them Shunsuiken attacks. However, he cannot perform Charged or Plunging Attacks.
Hitting opponents with Shunsuiken attacks also grants Ayato the Namisen effect, increasing the DMG dealt by Shunsuiken based on Ayato’s current Max HP. The Namisen effect has a maximum of 4 stacks.
Ayato’s damage potential primarily relies on his Elemental Skill, which makes it the top priority. Although Shunsuiken attacks are performed through Normal Attacks, they do not scale to his Normal Attack talent, just like Tartaglia. However, Normal Attack buffs from weapons, domains, and other means increase Shunsuiken DMG.
Elemental Burst
Kamisato Art: Suiyuu
Ayato creates a garden of purity wherein Bloomwater Blades constantly rain down and attack opponents within its AoE, dealing Hydro DMG. Characters within its AoE also have increased Normal Attack DMG.
This talent should be your top priority if you use Ayato as a Burst DPS. Its AoE elemental damage works excellently with other characters’ elemental damage for reactions, especially with Ganyu’s Elemental Burst to apply constant Frozen on enemies.
1st Ascension Passive
Kamisato Art: Mine Wo Matoishi Kiyotaki
This passive talent immediately grants Ayato 2 Namisen stacks once his Elemental Skill is triggered. Additionally, Ayato gains a Namisen effect equal to the maximum number of stacks possible once the water illusion explodes.
This passive buffs Ayato’s Elemental Skill, especially his Shunsuiken attacks, which allows you to deal amplified damage as early as your first hit.
4th Ascension Passive
Kamisato Art: Michiyuku Hagetsu
If Ayato is not on the field and his Energy is less than 40, he regenerates 2 Energy for himself every second.
This passive maximizes Ayato’s Burst DPS potential by fulfilling the required Energy during his Elemental Burst’s cooldown while he is not the active character.
Utility Passive
Kamisato Art: Daily Cooking
When Ayato cooks a dish perfectly, he has an 18% chance to receive an additional “Suspicious” dish of the same type.
Constellations
If you happen to wish for Kamisato Ayato’s much-coveted Stella Fortuna, you can activate his impressive Constellations to further multiply his damage potential. Here is the breakdown of Ayato’s Constellations and what each has to offer.
1. Kyouka Fuushi
Shunsuiken DMG is increased by 40% against opponents with 50% HP or less.
This allows Ayato’s Elemental Skill to deal greater damage numbers against enemies with lower HP and thus, defeat them faster. This has a similar mechanic to Diluc’s first Constellation, which instead works on enemies with more than 50% HP.
2. World Source
Namisen’s maximum stack count is increased to 5. When Kamisato Ayato has at least 3 Namisen stacks, his Max HP is increased by 50%.
This constellation is highly beneficial as it amplifies Shunsuiken DMG as well as Ayato’s durability on the field with higher HP. This is ideal if you don’t use a healer or shielder on your team.
3. To Admire the Flowers
Increases the Level of Kamisato Art: Kyouka by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
This multiplies the damage dealt by Ayato’s Elemental Skill and saves you a significant amount of resources needed for leveling up this talent.
4. Endless Flow
After using Kamisato Art: Suiyuu, all party members will have 15% increased Normal Attack SPD for 15s.
This increases Ayato’s Sub-DPS or Support capabilities by buffing all party members’ Normal Attack SPD to deal damage more frequently.
5. Bansui Ichiro
Increases the Level of Kamisato Art: Suiyuu by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
This multiplies the damage dealt by Ayato’s Elemental Burst and saves you a significant amount of resources needed for leveling up this talent.
6. Boundless Origin
After using Kamisato Art: Kyouka, Ayato’s next Shunsuiken attack will create 2 extra Shunsuiken strikes when they hit opponents, each one dealing 450% of Ayato’s ATK as DMG. Both these Shunsuiken attacks will not be affected by Namisen.
Similar to Ayaka’s second Constellation but with a higher multiplier, this Constellation allows Ayato to deal three attacks at once, each with its own damage.
Artifact Sets
Fortunately, Kamisato Ayato’s playstyle befits various artifact sets that all favor his damage as a DPS or even a Sub-DPS. Since Ayato is a swordsman whose damage heavily relies on his Normal Attack, both old and new artifact sets will benefit him. With that, the artifacts listed below include those released up to Version 2.6 only.
4-Piece Echoes of an Offering
This set increases Ayato’s ATK by 18%. Moreover, when Normal Attacks hit opponents, there is a 36% chance that it will trigger Valley Rite, which will increase Normal Attack DMG by 70% of ATK. This effect will be dispelled 0.05s after a Normal Attack deals DMG. If a Normal Attack fails to trigger Valley Rite, the odds of it triggering the next time will increase by 20%. This trigger can occur once every 0.2s.
This is Ayato’s signature artifact set. Due to its straightforward ATK Normal Attack DMG buff, it is currently the best artifact set for Ayato.
4-Piece Gladiator’s Finale
This set increases Ayato’s ATK by 18%. If the wielder of this artifact set uses a Sword, Claymore, or Polearm, the set increases their Normal Attack DMG by 35%.
Similar to Echoes of an Offering, this artifact set is also ideal for a sword user like Ayato who relies on his Normal Attack DMG for DPS. Whichever is easier to farm depends on your luck and inventory.
4-Piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence
This set increases Ayato’s ATK by 18%. When casting an Elemental Skill, if the character has 15 or more Energy, they lose 15 Energy and Normal, Charged, Plunging Attack DMG is increased by 50% for 10s.
This artifact set has a higher Normal Attack DMG multiplier than Gladiator’s Finale at the expense of your energy. This is recommended if you are not extremely reliant on Ayato’s Elemental Burst for your party.
4-Piece Heart of Depth
This set grants Ayato a 15% Hydro DMG Bonus. After using Elemental Skill, it also increases Normal Attack and Charged Attack DMG by 30% for 15s.
This is slightly similar to Gladiator’s Finale but with a Hydro DMG buff. You can opt for either this set or the latter depending on which yields greater damage numbers.
4-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate
This set increases Ayato’s Energy Recharge (ER) by 20%. It also increases Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge. A maximum of 75% bonus DMG can be obtained in this way.
If you rely on Ayato as a Burst DPS or Sub-DPS, this set is recommended due to its ER and Elemental Burst DMG buff. His burst can be used more often to deal greater Hydro DMG against enemies.
Recommended Weapons (DPS & Sub-DPS)
Kamisato Ayato’s ATK and HP scaling make him suitable for a variety of 4-star and 5-star swords in the game. Here, we listed the best weapons for him to equip based on their base ATK, beneficial substats and passives, visual design, and availability. The weapons listed below also include those released up to Version 2.6 only.
Haran Geppaku Futsu
Haran Geppaku Futsu is a 5-star sword released in Version 2.6 as Ayato’s signature weapon. It features a high base ATK of 46 (Max. 608 at Level 90) as well as a CRIT Rate substat so Ayato can consistently deal Crit DMG for every hit. This sword favors Ayato’s Hydro abilities as well as his Normal Attack DMG. Besides its combat advantages, its elegant blue design suits Ayato’s color scheme and his Hydro Vision in general.
Pros
- High Base ATK
Haran Geppaku Futsu has the same base ATK as 5-star swords Freedom Sworn, Summit Shaper, and Skyward Blade.
- CRIT Rate Substat
CRIT Rate is a relatively rare stat or substat among artifacts, which makes it valuable for a weapon unless you already utilize Cryo Resonance in your party.
- Unconditional Elemental DMG Bonus
The 12% Elemental DMG Bonus directly increases Ayato’s Hydro DMG which is ideal for his Elemental Skill.
- Normal Attack DMG Buff
Ayato’s Elemental Skill that converts his Normal Attack DMG into Hydro DMG also benefits from Haran Geppaku Futsu’s passive.
- Signature Weapon for Ayato
If you happen to collect promotional characters with their matching promotional weapons, then you will appreciate the fact that this weapon is specially made for Ayato.
Cons
- Obtainable via Limited-time Event Wishes Only
Haran Geppaku Futsu can only be availed by wishing using Intertwined Fates on its dedicated weapon banner.
- Expensive to Get and Refine
Due to the weapon banner’s Epitomized Path pity system, getting duplicates of Haran Geppaku Futsu will require you to shell out some money unless you’re extremely lucky.
Mistsplitter Reforged
The 5-star sword Mistsplitter Reforged is one of the most highly coveted and powerful weapons in the game, boasting the highest base ATK of 48 (Max. 674 at Level 90) out of all available swords. Apart from that, it features a CRIT DMG substat and provides Elemental DMG bonuses. As a gift from Raiden Shogun or the Electro Archon herself, it is ideal for almost any Inazuman swordsman.
Pros
- Highest Base ATK
Mistsplitter Reforged shares the same base attack with 5-star sword Aquila Favonia only.
- CRIT DMG Substat
Its CRIT DMG substat will further increase Ayato’s damage per critical hit.
- Unconditional Elemental DMG Bonus
Similar to Haran Geppaku Futsu, Mistsplitter Reforged gives Ayato a 12% Elemental DMG Bonus that maximizes his Hydro capabilities.
- Additional Elemental DMG Buff
The stacks of Mistsplitter’s Emblem will further multiply Ayato’s Hydro DMG, allowing him to defeat enemies easier.
Cons
- Obtainable via Limited-time Event Wishes Only
Mistsplitter Reforged can only be availed by wishing using Intertwined Fates on its dedicated weapon banner.
- Expensive to Get and Refine
Due to the weapon banner’s Epitomized Path pity system, getting duplicates of Mistsplitter Reforged will require you to shell out some money unless you’re extremely lucky.
Primordial Jade Cutter
Primordial Jade Cutter is a 5-star sword that also features a CRIT Rate substat along with its minimum base ATK. Its CRIT Rate multiplier is significantly higher than Haran Geppaku Futsu’s, which explains the lower base ATK. However, among all swords listed here, this is the only weapon that makes use of Ayato’s HP scaling with its HP and ATK-increasing passive.
Pros
- CRIT Rate Substat
As CRIT Rate is relatively difficult to increase, this weapon’s substat makes it valuable for Ayato to deal critical damage more often.
- Unconditional HP Buff
This increases Ayato’s HP by 20%, which buffs his Shunsuiken DMG as well as his overall durability.
- Unconditional ATK Bonus Scales to HP
Along with the HP increase, Ayato will also gain a flat ATK bonus equal to 1.2% of his Max HP.
Cons
- Lowest Base ATK out of all 5-star Swords
Unfortunately, Primordial Jade Cutter features a low base ATK. However, its substat’s greater multiplier and its passive compensate fairly.
Amenoma Kageuchi
The 4-star sword Amenoma Kageuchi is a craftable weapon from Inazuma, which makes a great alternative weapon to benefit F2P players. It features a straightforward base ATK and ATK substat, along with Succession Seeds that can stack to regenerate Energy for Ayato’s Elemental Burst. This is recommended for players who mainly use Ayato as a Burst DPS.
Pros
- ATK Substat
With most characters’ DMG scaling to ATK alone, it makes a versatile and straightforward weapon for dealing sufficient damage.
- Regenerates Energy
Each Succession Seed regenerates 6 Energy for Ayato, which is beneficial as his Elemental Burst has a high Energy requirement.
- Convenient to Craft and Refine
You don’t need to wish and spend your Intertwined or Acquaint Fates for Amenoma Kageuchi as its required resources can be farmed easily.
- Fits Ayato’s Character Design
Oddly enough, Amenoma Kageuchi seems to fit Ayato’s character design better than his signature weapon Haran Geppaku Futsu. This is a plus for players who value their character’s aesthetic.
Cons
- Low Base ATK
As a 4-star weapon, Amenoma Kageuchi doesn’t have an extremely impressive base ATK. However, its ATK substat also compensates fairly.
- Needs Northlander Sword Billet
Depending on your luck and your inventory, Northlander Sword Billets may be too difficult or too easy to have. You can keep fighting Weekly Bosses to eventually get them.
Best Synergies
With his versatility, Kamisato Ayato can be used together with multiple characters. Here are some of the characters he’ll work best with.
Yoimiya
Similar to Ayato, Yoimiya’s Elemental Skill converts her Normal Attack DMG to Pyro. Upon using Ayato’s Elemental Burst, Yoimiya can trigger her Elemental Skill and receive the Normal Attack buff from the former to deal increased Pyro DMG.
Ganyu
Ganyu’s Elemental Burst is the Cryo version of Ayato’s, making their combination suitable for a perma-freeze composition. This is ideal for multiple scattered targets such as those in Spiral Abyss.
Bennett
Bennett would always be favorable for almost any character in the game due to his immense support capabilities. Before unleashing Ayato’s Burst, activate Bennett’s first to increase Ayato’s ATK for greater damage.
Fischl
Fischl’s Elemental Skill works well with Ayato’s Elemental Skill and Burst due to its off-field capabilities. If you want to trigger Electro-Charged nonstop, Fischl and Ayato would make a good combination.
Party Setup Recommendations
In order to fit Ayato seamlessly and optimally in your party, you should know his function, the type of characters he’ll work great with, and ideal party resonances.
Ayato’s skillset deviates him from being a stand-alone DPS. With that, it is best to pair him with a Main DPS or Sub-DPS, preferably an Elemental DMG dealer, to maximize his capabilities.
Some of the damage-dealing characters he’ll work great with are Yoimiya, Ganyu, Ayaka, Beidou, Fischl, and Xiangling. For support, Bennett, Thoma, and Kazuha can increase his attack, resistance to interruption, and elemental DMG, respectively. To protect Ayato, you can pair him with shielders like Noelle, Zhongli, Yun Jin, or Diona.
We recommend going for a Cryo or Pyro resonance due to their damage advantages. Apart from decreasing the time affected by Pyro, Hydro resonance only increases incoming healing which we find unnecessary given Ayato’s reliance on HP.
Character Outfit
As of the moment, Kamisato Ayato doesn’t have any other character outfit available in the in-game shop. However, he wears the Silk Splendor outfit by default.
Silk Splendor
